The Very Stylish “CHEVY SPARK”

From very, very far, you may mistake the Chevrolet Spark for a Matiz but get close and it vanishes. This car looks more contemporary, while we would say the earlier Matiz design was timeless. That’s just a personal opinion, and don’t bother much with it. You are going to like the way it looks. The Spark sports are edgier-looking headlights, a slightly pronounced bonnet, a little air intake, coloured indicators, a different waistline. The rear lamps are rounded, and there are Spark LT version has roof rails on top. And according to General Motors, there is less than 10 % of the old Matiz left in the new Chevrolet Spark - so practically, whether we call it a new Matiz or not, the little Chevy is an entirely new spark! The Very Stylish “CHEVY SPARK”

The Chevrolet Spark has got rid of the three cylinder engine of the old Matiz - and in its place is a new 995 cc four cylinder engine that produces more power than the newly released Fiat Palio Stile 1.1. You get 62.13 bhp (48.5 KW) at 5400 rpm, and 9.02 kgm (90.3 NM) of torque at 4200 rpm which are very decent for a car in this class. The five speed manual gearbox is quite capable and well-sorted out, and most auto mags have said that the Spark drives well, and the car feels sure-footed for something this small.

Fuel efficiency is critical in a car like this, and the claimed figures are around 17 kmpl. Real world mileage figures would be a bit less - there is not enough data at this moment to give you a clear answer on exactly what it would be. Expect The Chevrolet Spark to offer 12 kmpl in stop and start city driving - say in Mumbai - and 14-15 kmpl in a city like
Delhi with more open roads.

Wilmington plants in US.

The future car will be built on GM’s Zeta platform, which is developed in
Australia by GM’s subsidiary Holden. The car is delayed as the new GTO is first developed in
Australia and then the plants in
America will be retooled for the production of the car.

 THE ALL NEW PONTIAC GTO

2008 Pontiac GTO will be powered by 6.0L LS2 engine with 400 hp and will have a six speed manual transmission. The Zeta platform gets fresh suspension, with a added classy independent rear end assuring better traction and superior handling. The wheelbase is increased to 110 inches.

Getz Prime: Facelift

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Getz Prime: FaceliftThe new face lifted Getz Prime 1.1 is here. Talking about the new changes, it has got new head lamps and tail lamps, a new airdam/foglamp setup, a new three spoke steering wheel, a slight revamp of the centre console and plastic grain finish. Apart from these it has got driver’s seat armrest, illuminated glove box, illuminated power window switches and adjustable backrest at the rear.

India is getting ready to become the global hub for Getz production as the Getz produced in the sriperumbudur manufacturing unit are now heading towards Europe.

Which straightly means that Hyundai motors are all set to launch the new Getz prime in India which has the Santro’s 1.1 engine in place of the 1341cc motor of old Getz.

Its motor displacing 1086 cc, with 12 valves, 4 cylinders, develops 65.67 bhp at 5500 rpm and 10.39 kgm of torque at 3200 revs, because the new heavier Getz needed all the power it can get. It has got Hyundai Getz’ slick shifting five speed gearbox, but has different gear ratios in fourth and fifth. This helps to stretch a liter of fuel as far as possible without losing the drivability of initial gears.

Since TATA motors have displaced Hyundai from second place in terms of sales in volume Hyundai expects a turnaround with its new Getz Prime. Though the turnaround will depend on the pricing of the car even if the Hyundai discounts heavily in the current Getz’ price ( Rs. 5.23 lakhs ) which is even costlier than Swift and Chevrolet U-VA it is certain that the existing customers will not move for an under power car. Though the new Getz prime is expected to price around 3.9 lakhs.

 THE VIPER IS BACK

For 2008, the Dodge Viper SRT will use an 8.4-liter aluminum V-10 engine that produces a full 600 horsepower and 560 lb.-ft. of torque. 0-60 times are under four seconds, 0-100-0 in under 12 seconds, and braking 60-0 comes in less than 100 feet.

THE VIPER IS BACK

An auto  channel  reported that the 2008 Viper Coupe and Convertible both averaged over 200 mph around the

Transportation
Research
Center’s 7.5 mile oval test track in
Ohio. The convertible even with 197 mph with the top down. Both have similar drag (aerodynamic) numbers, according to representatives of the SRT team.

THE VIPER IS BACK

SRT power train engineers had to not only increase performance, but also comply with regulatory requirements such as federal Tier 2, Bin 5 and
California’s Low Emissions Vehicle (LEV) 2 mandates. Working with specialists from McLaren Performance Technologies and Ricardo, Inc., SRT engineers began by following the racer’s basic formula for more power: bigger displacement, more efficient breathing and higher engine speed.

 LOTUS ESPIRIT 2008

Lotus is working as fast as they can on the next-generation Esprit, scheduled to debut in late 2008 as a 2009 model. These spy shots of a heavily disguised prototype are the first of a model that is beyond the test mule stage.

While Lotus’ drive train choice has been finalized, the specifics have not yet been officially released to the public. Sources, however, are telling us that Lotus has picked a 4.4 or 4.8 liter BMW V8, with engine management tweaked by Lotus’ engine programming wizards. Lotus, aiming to extract the maximum possible performance and handling characteristics from the new model, will be mounting the engine and transmission longitudinally. If you look closely at the spy shot of the rear of the prototype, you can see the transmission case at the bottom rear end, behind the mid-mounted power plant.

 LOTUS ESPIRIT 2008

Lotus is aiming at a price point of around $130,000. This is a good step up from the previous model Esprit which maxed out around $95,000, but well under what Lotus sees as the direct competition: the Ferrari F430. With such lofty and proven competition, Lotus has its work cut out for it, but their engineers have a reputation of being among the best in the business. We can’t wait to report the details of this new model to you as it comes closer to being released.
